A group of budding young photographers aged 12 – 17 have worked with artist, Elina Medley, to create and then curate their first exhibition, proudly part of Art Weeks and Oxford Festival of the Arts 2024.

Inspired by street photography, they worked in the studio and in the streets of Oxford to develop skills in photography, image making and curation. This outdoor photography exhibition captures the contrasting beauty of Oxford, both urban and rural, and explores viewpoints of a new generation living in an old city. Camera Club is an open access project, part of The North Wall’s YouthLab programme, which provides opportunities for young people aged 12-17 to develop their creative skills alongside professional artists.

In this group exhibition you have the once a year opportunity to see the full range of work produced by artists based at MRS; including painting, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, photography, printmaking and more.

During our Open Studios weekend on the 11th and 12th of May you will get the chance to meet MRS artists and gain insight into their practices by seeing the spaces we work in.

Between 6pm and 8pm on the 11th, please join us for a drink to celebrate the opening of the exhibition.

This year’s Camera Club met during spring half term to work on the publicity of their upcoming exhibition. They signed off images, helped write their press release, designed posters and made voxpops videos. All excellent learning and experience!

Exhibition coming 10th -20th May 2024

Come and see how this work has developed since I showed it in June. I’m screening this new video work in my front room. Come and have a cuppa and a chat along with a four minute viewing experience from my dog eared sofa.

Saturday 2 December

10am -4pm

Ten Magdalen Road Studio artists are coming together to create a sale of original one-off pieces. Come and chose a beautiful gift or treat yourself to something wonderfully unique from oil paintings to wood fired pottery.

I’m working on still life drawings and water colours and would love to see you there.

I am now in my second iteration of Camera Club with The North Wall Arts Centre. After spending four days at the end of the summer holidays taking photographs In October half term I met the young participants for two days to select their best images and curate their exhibition together. Their enthusiasm and ideas were inspiring.
